Dr. Nimeri, President, IFSO MENA

Dr Nimeri is the President of the IFSO MENA chapter (Middle East & North Africa Chapter of the International Federation for Surgery of Obesity) and the president of the Pan Arab Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (PASMBS). In addition, Dr Nimeri is Chairman of the International Federation for Surgery of Obesity’s (IFSO) Communication committee. Dr Nimeri is the Chief of Division of General, Thoracic, & Vascular Surgery, Director of Bariatric & Metabolic Institute (BMI) Abu Dhabi, and Surgeon Champion of ACS NSQIP at SKMC. He is an adjunct staff at the Cleveland Clinic’s Endocrine and Metabolic Institute in Cleveland Ohio and an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the UAE University.

Dr Nimeri is the Associate Program director of the ACGME-I accredited Surgery Residency Program in Abu Dhabi and the Fellowship program director for the MIS and Bariatric surgery fellowship program at SKMC. Dr Nimeri joined SKMC as a consultant surgeon in May 2009. Prior to that he was an Assistant Clinical Professor at University of California San Francisco. He finished his general surgery residency training at Huron hospital Cleveland Clinic Health System in Cleveland Ohio in 2004. Dr Nimeri did his fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis Missouri in 2005. He has been in practice at the University of California San Francisco-Fresno starting in 2005. At UCSF Fresno, he was on faculty at the general surgery Residency program, and was one of three faculty of the Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship program at UCSF Fresno. Dr Nimeri has interests in Minimally Invasive Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Surgical Education and Surgical Quality.
